Thank You! – Fundraising Round-Up
This is our regular round-up to say a huge ‘thank you’ to our wonderful community fundraisers.
Each year, it costs around £12 million to deliver all our care services and to run the organisation. 30% of funds are commissioned by the NHS and 70% of our funds have to be raised by us, with the support of our passionate supporters.
Red Sky High Charity Gig
A big thank you to Alan Wilkinson and Red Sky High who organised a fundraising gig at Venue 16 in aid of the hospice. Also thank you to the bands that supported Red Sky High, and everyone that supported the evening. It was a huge success and raised a phenomenal £3,038, well done everyone.
Charity Darts Tournament
Thank you to Dean Barker who has organised an annual darts tournament to raise funds for charity. Dean shared what motivates him to support local charities:
“Wayne died on 22/08/2019 of cardio myopathy whilst playing football. He was my twin brother, and his death was a shock to the whole family as he was only 35. So I wanted to turn a negative into a positive by starting a charity darts match between Suffolk Darts and players who I have played with and known. We wanted to raise money for local people who needed help. With the help of Carl Wilkins and Ian Randles (Chairman of Suffolk Darts) we managed to make this an annual event. We have managed to raise thousands of pounds over the last 6 years for numerous causes.
“I would like to thank all the players, sponsors, supporters, and donations over the last few years, Last year we managed to raise £6,285 for St Elizabeth Hospice in memory of Tina Noy. Her husband Andy has sponsored this event every year and played darts, he is also a very close friend.”
Andy Noy was surprised that the latest event was held in memory of his wife Tina.
“I didn’t expect that the event would be being held in memory of Tina. Her cancer came on so quickly and she passed within 4 months. The care Tina received at the hospice was second to none. Tina’s children Ryan and Chelsea whole heartedly thank the hospice for caring for Tina with dignity, love, and professionalism. A big thanks to all for raising these funds in Tina’s memory.”
Bake Sale
Thank you to Mclaren Construction Group who held a bake sale raising £113. Megan Banks from Mclaren explains why they chose to support the hospice:
“We are a tier 1 construction company building the accommodation campus at Sizewell C. As part of our social team here we are trying to arrange a charity event every few months, we chose St Elizabeth Hospice not only because it is Sizewell’s chosen charity but also personally it holds a very special place in my heart having cared for both of my grandparents at end of life.
“We held ‘The Great Campus Bake Off’ where all colleagues who wanted to were invited to bake a delicacy of their choice which was then judged by the site Chaplain in a very official manner! Team members and participants were invited to donate as they wished when trying our bakes. I really did not anticipate to raise this much today, it is brilliant. We will be continuing to raise money for your wonderful cause in future.”
Zfest
A huge thank you and well done to Chris Ryan who threw a surprise party for his partner Zoe Storey’s 50th birthday in aid of the hospice! Zoe said: “It was an amazing event and an amazing £300 was raised by a raffle of T-Shirts! We hope everyone had a great time celebrating!”
