Therapies in East & Mid-Suffolk

Our team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy assistants support patients in East & Mid-Suffolk.

Our therapists can support you in your own home, at the Inpatient Unit in Ipswich or as an outpatient. Our team can see you in one to one settings or in a group session depending on your needs.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy aims to help maximise and maintain your independence, and improve quality of life by working on the things that are most important to you.  Our physiotherapist’s will work with you to address any difficulties caused by your disease, identify your priorities and set realistic goals.

Through enablement, education and equipment they can support you to self-manage symptoms of breathlessness, fatigue, pain, anxiety and muscle weakness.   

Physiotherapists can help with:

  • Supporting you to self-manage your symptoms to improve your quality of life
  • Reducing pain through exercise, positioning, TENS or acupuncture
  • Support with breathlessness and respiratory management through breathing and airway clearance techniques and equipment
  • Improving strength and mobility through exercise or walking aids
  • Supporting the discharge planning process

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists will work with you to address any difficulties in day to day activity, identify your priorities and set realistic goals. They will support you with advice on how to continue or adapt your activities if you have physical changes.

Our team have a focus on enablement to help you to self-manage your symptoms. If you are safely discharged home from the hospice in Ipswich, our therapists will ensure you have the appropriate equipment and support in place safely at home.

Occupational Therapists can help with:

  • Providing equipment & advice to aid independent living
  • Relaxation techniques to alleviate stress & anxiety
  • Techniques & specialist programme to cope with fatigue & loss of energy
  • Assessing the patient’s home environment
  • Practical strategies to help families/carers support the patient at home

Therapy Drop-In Exercise Sessions

The therapy team offer drop-in exercise sessions on Mondays, located at the Gym at St Elizabeth Hospice on Foxhall Road in Ipswich.

Sessions are open for two hours from 10am-12pm.

To help with bookings, please sign up to your preferred date/s to attend.

You can turn up whatever time suits you between these hours.
