In partnership with East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH), St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice has been providing care at Beccles Hospital since 2019.

Located at the Minsmere Ward in Beccles Hospital, our team provides specialist palliative care for the relief of pain, distressing symptoms, psychological and spiritual distress, or end-of-life care. At all times we aim to maintain the patient’s dignity and choice.

We have 6 palliative care beds, supported by our team of Consultants in Palliative Medicine & Palliative Care. The beds are not a long term stay unit and are instead available for a short period that is long enough to give you the right care and support for your situation. We will aim to relieve and manage your distressing symptoms and concerns, to try to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

How the team will help you

Our highly skilled doctors and nurses are on hand to give you the best possible care. Once you’ve been admitted we’ll assess your physical, psychosocial, spiritual and emotional wellbeing. The team will then create a care plan that is tailored to your needs and agree it with you. Together, we’ll continue to review the plan to make sure you’re getting the most effective support possible.

As well as expert medical and nursing care, a variety of therapies are offered and patients, family and carers can access emotional wellbeing support services. We’ll work closely with you and your family, informing you about the options available and listening to your wishes and preferences.

Referrals are accepted for patients over 18 years of age with a life-limiting or progressive illness. If you are a healthcare professional, or an individual wanting to refer to these services, please fill in the online referral form.

The hospice team at Beccles Hospital gave incredible care provision. They really couldn’t do enough for us, enabling special moments like these with friends and family in what was a very difficult time. The care they provided was for all of us, not just for Mum.
