This is Hospice Care

At St Elizabeth Hospice, we’re here for more than you might expect.

We provide 24/7 care at home or at our hospice for people facing life-limiting illnesses. But we also help couples celebrate weddings, run music therapy sessions and have animals visit patients & families on the ward.

For over 35 years, St Elizabeth Hospice has been a part of Suffolk’s story. We’ve been here for hundreds of local families, and somewhere in your life, we’re already making a difference in ways you might not expect.

We’re able to support one in four people we care for because someone – a stranger, a neighbour, someone who never even used our services – decided hospice care mattered enough to protect with a Gift in their Will.

For a second year, we’re proud to stand with over 125 hospices across England, Scotland, and Wales, for the “This is Hospice Care” campaign, brought together by Hospice UK.

You can help us continue being here for anyone in your community who needs us, for all, for now, forever.

Our Impact, Your Stories

We provide care to thousands of people at the end of their lives or those living with life-limiting illnesses across East & Mid-Suffolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney.

Gifts in Wills are crucial to the survival and growth of hospices across England, Scotland and Wales, providing 15% of the voluntary income that hospices rely on to deliver essential care.

“Before coming under the care of St Elizabeth Hospice, we had no real idea what a hospice was or what it did. It is only when you receive their support that you fully understand the difference they make.

It is very important to have your Will in place, as it gives such peace of mind to know everything is in order.

For me, it is a meaningful way to give back to the hospice, to say ‘thank you’ for what they did for me and to help ensure the hospice can continue supporting other families like mine.

Writing your Will doesn’t take long with the help of a solicitor, but it can make a real difference to the hospice and the thousands of people supported by their vital services every year in our local community.”

“As in my case, being a relative of someone who is dying is an incredibly emotional experience. You may not always know how to cope, whereas the hospice has the experience of supporting families in these situations and can provide guidance and solace when it is most needed.

Giving back helps ensure that others can also benefit from their care, which is why I have decided to leave a gift in my Will to St Elizabeth Hospice.

The process of writing your Will is quite straightforward. I approached it with clear thoughts about what I wanted to happen and went to see a solicitor with a list of priorities.

Through writing your Will, you gain peace of mind knowing you have taken care of things as best you can and can trust your attorneys to carry out your wishes as fully as possible.”

Window of Eternity

In recognition of all the wonderful people that have left St Elizabeth Hospice a legacy in their Will, a lasting tribute has been installed in our beautiful tranquil garden in Ipswich, in remembrance & celebration of them.

The stone sculpture, called the Window of Eternity, is made of granite and incorporates a beautiful stained glass window design of flowers and bees. A symbol of rejuvenation, bees help the world to survive and flourish in the same way that legacies secure the future care of patient and their families cared for by the hospice.

To accompany the Window of Eternity, we have a dedicated Legators page, along with a downloadable list, where loved ones can view their relative or friends name who were kind enough to leave a gift in their Will.

Many thanks to the following businesses for sponsoring our Window of Eternity: Collins and Curtis Masonry, Stained Glass Window Company & Hudson Signs.
