This is Hospice Care

We’re proud to announce the launch of the “This is Hospice Care” campaign, a groundbreaking collaboration between 143 hospices across England, Scotland, and Wales, brought together by Hospice UK.

Hospices like ours are at the very heart of communities, offering compassionate care and support when we need it most. For many of us, a hospice will touch our lives, whether for ourselves, a loved one, or a friend, providing comfort, dignity, and expert care through life’s most challenging times.

But just as this incredible support wouldn’t exist without hospices across the UK, hospice care wouldn’t exist without you. We rely heavily on charitable donations to keep our doors open.

That’s why we’ve come together to shine a light on the essential role hospices play in our communities and protect our futures.

We’re asking everyone to consider leaving a Gift in their Will to a hospice close to their heart. By doing so, you can help us continue to provide this vital care, ensuring that everyone has the support they need for generations to come.

Together, we can make sure that hospice care lives on for all, for now, forever.

At the heart of our community

St Elizabeth Hospice has been at the heart of our community since 1989.

We provide care to thousands of people at the end of their lives or those living with life-limiting illnesses across East & Mid-Suffolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney.

Gifts in Wills are crucial to the survival and growth of hospices across England, Scotland and Wales, providing 15% of the voluntary income that hospices rely on to deliver essential care.

Hospice care is free at the point of use. But, unlike the NHS, it is not fully state funded. While hospices receive some government funding, more than £1 billion of the £1.6 billion they need each year comes from generous donors.

With rising costs and growing demand for hospice services, these gifts are more important to us than ever.

A Gift in your Will can help make sure hospices like ours can continue to offer compassionate, free care to hundreds of thousands of people and their families each year, now and in the future.

Leave a Gift in your Will, like Maurice

Maurice saw the impact of St Elizabeth Hospice’s care when the team supported his wife, Hazel, in May 2020.

Following Hazel’s care at the Inpatient Unit in Ipswich, Maurice decided to generously pledge to leave a Gift in his Will, which will help 1 in 5 patients receiving our care for generations to come.

Leaving a donation to St Elizabeth Hospice in my Will was an easy decision. From my personal experience with hospice care, I know just how essential their support is.

A gift of money, or a percentage, creates a big positive benefit for the next person and family using our hospice services.

The hospice’s work is centred on the individual’s needs and we provide specialist support wherever it is needed, whether that is in the home, another setting in the community, in hospital or in the hospice itself.

As well as supporting people facing life-limiting illness, we help families & loved ones through their bereavement. Your donation will help us to sustain our free outstanding care in the community to for years to come.

We’ve created a Wills Guide, to help you approach either a new Will, or update one you already have.

Window of Eternity

In recognition of all the wonderful people that have left St Elizabeth Hospice a legacy in their Will, a lasting tribute has been installed in our beautiful tranquil garden in Ipswich, in remembrance & celebration of them.

The stone sculpture, called the Window of Eternity, is made of granite and incorporates a beautiful stained glass window design of flowers and bees. A symbol of rejuvenation, bees help the world to survive and flourish in the same way that legacies secure the future care of patient and their families cared for by the hospice.

To accompany the Window of Eternity, we have a dedicated Legators page, along with a downloadable list, where loved ones can view their relative or friends name who were kind enough to leave a gift in their Will.

Many thanks to the following businesses for sponsoring our Window of Eternity: Collins and Curtis Masonry, Stained Glass Window Company & Hudson Signs.
