Hospice to Host Suffolk’s First-ever Grief Disco

19 August 2025

St Elizabeth Hospice is hosting Suffolk’s first-ever Grief Disco to help people connect and celebrate loved ones through a special evening of music.

Taking place on 4 October, 7pm-9.30pm, at Kesgrave War Memorial Community Centre, the Grief Disco will provide an opportunity for the whole community to dance and connect on the dancefloor with a great intimate atmosphere.

Hugh McElhinney, Compassionate Communities Lead at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Grief manifests in countless ways. Whether you’re mourning a family member, friend, loved one or pet, your feelings are valid. Our team is dedicated to providing understanding and support through all forms of loss.

“The Grief Disco welcomes everyone to come together, remember those who are no longer with us and celebrate special memories through music.

“So please do join us this October, for what is sure to be a unique event, as the hospice joins alongside the community to remember those we hold dear.”

Grief Disco was founded by Georgina Jones following the death of her 16-month-old son, Osian, in 2023.

Inspired by her lifelong love of dancing and how dancing helped coping with her loss, Georgina, alongside her friend Leah Sian Davies, began hosting online and in-person Grief Disco events to help others process their grief through movement and music.

A number of Grief Discos have been held across the UK and St Elizabeth Hospice’s will be the first to take place in Suffolk – guest DJs will be on the decks, creating an uplifting experience to move body and soul – while the evening host, Chris, will be holding the space throughout the event to support and uplift.

There will be a non-alcoholic bar and chill-out areas to pause and remember loved ones.

Open to over 18s only, entry is £7 and you can book your place by clicking the button below.
