Hospice Summer Campaign Smashes Fundraising Goal to Raise Over £72,000

04 September 2026

St Elizabeth Hospice is celebrating after raising more than £72,000 through its summer Care. It’s coming home campaign, smashing its £50,000 fundraising target.

The final whistle has now blown on the charity’s appeal, which aimed to raise awareness of the specialist hospice care its teams provide in people’s own homes.

Home-based care accounts for around 70% of the hospice’s services, and the campaign surpassed its £50,000 fundraising target just over a month after launching, at the start of the FIFA World Cup, with a final total of £72,311 now being revealed.

Ellie Main, Associate Director of Fundraising & Supporter Engagement at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “We loved watching the festival of football this summer, but what has made this campaign really special is seeing our community come together behind their local hospice.

“We set ourselves an ambitious £50,000 target, so to have already raised £72,311 is phenomenal. Whether people donated, became regular givers, entered our raffle, took on a challenge or supported Match Giving Week, every person who got involved became part of our hospice team.

“Most importantly, Care. It’s coming home has helped us talk about something we really want more people to understand: so much hospice care happens beyond the walls of the hospice itself.

“Every day our teams are supporting people in their own homes and communities, helping patients and families spend precious time together in the place that matters most to them.

“Thank you to every person, family, community group and business that has got behind us. Your generosity helps us continue to be there for local people when it matters most.”

Funds were raised in a variety of ways. From supporters entering the hospice’s Summer Raffle, taking on keepy uppy challenges or becoming a regular giver donating as little as £10 a month.

One of the campaign’s biggest successes came during Match Giving Week, held throughout England’s group stage matches, when the generosity of the local community and businesses combined to raise more than £40,000 for the hospice’s vital services.

Every year the charity delivers support to over 4,000 patients & families living with life-limiting illnesses in East & Mid-Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, with over 70% of these services provided in the community.

Last year alone, 555 local people aged 45 and under received St Elizabeth Hospice’s care, a number which is increasing. Behind every figure is a family navigating difficult moments, which is why community support for hospice activities, like Care. It’s coming home, is so important.

These services are provided free of charge to patients and loved ones, with 70% of care funding raised via community generosity such as supporter fundraising, participation in hospice events, and purchasing from hospice shops to name but a few avenues.

Every penny raised makes a real difference to the patients and families under the care of St Elizabeth Hospice.
