Hop to it! Suffolk 2025 Artist Spotlight – Jo Burrows

07 July 2025

Ipswich-based Jo Burrows has been a self-employed artist for about 15 years, although her background has always been in art and design.

‘Self-employment happened when children happened!’ she says.

She works professionally as My Little Paint Box and describes her art as very detailed and always colourful. She especially likes painting in miniature.

She got involved with Hop to it! after she took part in the Big Hoot event in 2022.

‘I loved taking part in the hospice’s last trail; to be part of something so worthwhile and of huge benefit to the hospice and the community is very special.

‘I was asked to paint the Memory Hare for this year’s trail, which is a huge privilege, and also painted another hare too so its very exciting.

‘My dear dad was cared for at the hospice, so I have a strong connection to St Elizabeth Hospice and want to support them as much as I can. It’s a very special place for me.

‘My mum is also an Inpatient Unit volunteer, since she lost my stepdad, and it means a great deal to her too.’

It is, she says, a ‘complete honour’ to be chosen to paint for the trail.

‘Especially as it’s my hometown too. It can be very physically demanding and a lot of time is spent in strange positions whilst painting the sculptures, but it’s very worthwhile.’
