Grove Court Care Home gains Hospice Care Home Accreditation
Grove Court Care Home, Woodbridge, has recently celebrated gaining the St Elizabeth Hospice Care Home Accreditation.
The accreditation is awarded by St Elizabeth Hospice and is tailored for care homes and care agencies that wish to improve their delivery of palliative and end-of-life care services.
Olivia Curno, Chief Executive at Elizabeth Finn Homes, celebrated the awarding of the accreditation with the whole team at Grove Court Care Home:
“It means a great deal to everyone at Grove Court and across Elizabeth Finn Homes to receive this Excellence in End-of-Life Care accreditation.
Through our partnership with St Elizabeth Hospice, and over an extended period of working with their brilliant Hospice Education team, we have not only benefitted from their expertise but also built a meaningful local relationship.
I have had so many powerful conversations, and received so many moving letters, from relatives after their loved one has died at Grove Court, sharing that the experience was as positive, peaceful and, at times, joyful as it could have been. We know we have only one chance to get end-of-life care right for our residents and their families.
With more end-of-life care taking place in the community and in care homes than ever before, it is invaluable to have a team like St Elizabeth Hospice offering expertise, guidance and a reassuring mark of excellence.”
Currently, more than 10 care homes in Suffolk and North East Essex are part of the accreditation, with training provided by the Hospice Education team.
It demonstrates to families and professionals that those with the accreditation offer good professional standards in end-of-life care provision.
St Elizabeth Hospice supports care homes in Suffolk, whilst St Helena work with care homes in North East Essex.
Catherine O’Brien, Hospice Education Team Leader at St Elizabeth Hospice, shared why the the training delivered through Care Home Accreditation is such a useful tool for care homes in the local community:
“The Hospice Education Care Home Accreditation demonstrates a care provider’s commitment to high standards in end-of-life care, while enabling staff to learn from specialist professionals through training, coaching and supported development.
For the hospice, it strengthens integrated working with community services and ensures consistent, person-centred care across our locality.
We are delighted that Grove Court has achieved this accreditation, reflecting their strong engagement with the process and their clear commitment to embedding learning into practice to further strengthen and enhance their already demonstrable commitment to high‑quality palliative and end‑of‑life care.”
