No Barriers Here

No Barriers Here is a unique and innovative approach to advance care planning for people and communities who experience inequity in accessing palliative and end-of-life care.

Many people who are marginalised often do not have the opportunity to plan for the end of life. This may be due to systemic barriers, socio-economic factors, or a lack of confidence from healthcare professionals. No Barriers Here is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund

Inclusive Advance Care Planning

We believe that everyone has the right to receive equitable palliative and end-of-life care. When people are supported to plan ahead and share their wishes, it is much more likely that those around them will understand what matters most and be able to support their decision-making.

Since 2024, we have worked in co-production with underserved communities as part of No Barriers Here, creating safe and inclusive spaces within the community for a less verbal yet more equitable approach to advance care planning.

So far, our workshops have included people with learning disabilities and those on the autism spectrum, as well as communities for whom English is not their first language.

Looking ahead, we are planning to extend this work to other groups, including the prison community, the homeless community, and with young adults and families supported by our local children’s hospice, EACH.

We would love to hear from any group interested in exploring a workshop with us…
