Treecycling Returns!
St Elizabeth Hospice and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) are once again partnering to host a Christmas tree recycling scheme – ‘Tree-cycling’ – for the local community this festive season.
Returning for the fifth year, registration is open from 15 November through to 4 January 2026 with the partnership collecting trees from homes in the following postcodes: IP1, IP2, IP3, IP4, IP5, IP6, IP7, IP8, IP9, IP10, IP11, IP12, IP13, IP14, IP15, IP16, IP17, IP18 & CO11.
Tree collection will take place on 8 and 9 January. Hospice teams will be joined by volunteers from Network Rail, Flagship Services, Medequip, Kier Group and Balfour Beatty, who are kindly supporting the work this year.
All recycled trees will be turned into woodchip for the bears at Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park and for the animals at Potsford Farm to enjoy. While some of the Christmas tree trunks will also be available for Potsford Farm visitors to use creatively for making Christmas trinkets.
Kelly Nekrews, community fundraiser at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Please join our ‘tree-cycling’ scheme this year and turn your festive clean-up into a gift that gives back to two local charities.
“Every Christmas tree recycled helps the two hospices raise vital funds to support patients and their families when care matters most.”
Tina Burdett, EACH’s Community Fundraising Manager, said: “The season of goodwill doesn’t have to end when the decorations come down.
“By signing up you’re not just helping the environment – you’re helping children and families across our community. Every penny raised will help fund our specialist care and support, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who takes part.
“Last year was our busiest and most successful year yet, and the funds raised through our tree recycling service help us continue to offer our vital services — from symptom management and counselling to memory-making and end-of-life care.
“Old, unwanted trees can therefore become something truly beautiful — a gift that helps families make the most of the time they have together.”
