Suffolk Dog Day Gets Tails Wagging for the Hospice

St Elizabeth Hospice’s much-loved Suffolk Dog Day saw hundreds of dogs, and their owners, descend upon Trinity Park to celebrate man’s best friend and raise vital funds for the independent Suffolk charity.
Held on 31 August, Suffolk Dog Day featured a range of fun dog classes, dog agility and scurry activities, as well as over 60 stalls full of doggy goodies, Crufts’ style competitions, children’s entertainment and plenty of food and drink stalls for attendees to enjoy.
With donations and funds still coming in, Suffolk Dog Day has already raised over £50,000 for St Elizabeth Hospice.
Suffolk Dog Day 2025 Highlights
James Fox-Golding, Events and Challenges Manager at St Elizabeth Hospice: “What a pawsitively perfect day! Suffolk Dog Day returned once again this year and as always it was a real pleasure to host.
“It has been fantastic to see plenty of smiling faces and wagging tails, as the community has joined with the hospice to share our love for our four-legged friends and to support the charity too.
“Congratulations to all the show winners and to all who took part. A big ‘thank you’ to all the wonderful volunteers and stallholders, who supported Suffolk Dog Day and who helped make the event possible. Every penny raised will make a difference to the hospice’s services in your local community.”
Over 1,500 people attended Suffolk Dog Day with highlights including Best in Show which was won by Ellen Sutcliffe and her dog Tig, a springer spaniel.
“It feels absolutely amazing to win. We have been coming to Suffolk Dog Day for three years now, and we won Waggiest Tail last year, but to win Best in Show this year is just amazing.
“We have loved exploring the whole of Suffolk Dog Day, with Tig really enjoying the ‘have a go’ scurry area and we even did some shopping at the stalls here. You really can’t top the day and what makes it even more special is you are supporting such a good cause in St Elizabeth Hospice.”
Sponsored by Gladwells Pet & Country Store and Skinners, all ticket proceeds and donations from Suffolk Dog Day will go to St Elizabeth Hospice, which every year provides support to over 4,000 patients & families living with life-limiting illnesses in East & Mid-Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
Annually these service costs around £12 million to deliver, with 70% of these funds being generated by the local community’s support of the hospice’s income streams, for example retail shops, events – such as Suffolk Dog Day, individual fundraising as well as gifts in Wills and donations.
