Professionals join St Elizabeth Hospice webinar to support young people during COVID-19

01 June 2020

The Emotional Wellbeing team at St Elizabeth Hospice have been hosting webinars to help professionals support young people during the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to increased demand, Specialist Children’s Worker Rob Ilett hosted two webinars last week covering a range of topics, including how to support anxiety in children affected by the pandemic, how to manage the return to school and helping vulnerable families during and after lockdown.

Rob explains why there has been a demand from professionals: “Schools offer a place of security and stability for many children and families. During the period of lockdown, not being able to go to school has had a significant impact on their emotional wellbeing. Death and dying has become part of conversations in communities and schools want to give the best support they can to the children under their care. We created the webinars to help education staff to feel supported in the care they give to children on their return to school, giving reassurance where needed, and providing advice, tips and tools in helping children and families to cope during the pandemic”.

If you’re a professional supporting young people and children, and you missed the webinar, you can view it below or here on our 565 Service page.

There are plenty of resources on our bereavement support page and 565 Service pages.

Many thanks to all those who attended.
