Nurse opens Hospice’s new furniture shop
A St Elizabeth Hospice nurse officially opened the charity’s new furniture shop in Ipswich on Friday 14th September.
Senior Registered Nurse Sharon Cave was among the first to hand over donations to the new shop in Foxhall Road, just a mile from the Hospice.
She had been invited to do the honours and encourage local people to support the shop – as it will help fund nurses like her.
The new shop – the hospice’s 18th – offers a range of good quality second-hand furniture as well as homeware, white goods and linen.
Shop manager Mark Berry said: “This is our first furniture shop in Ipswich and we are hoping it will be well supported by the local community. It will be our nearest shop to the Hospice and I think that really brings home how every penny we raise from the sale of the furniture will help us care for local people living with a progressive illness and support their families free of charge.”
The Hospice is appealing for furniture donations – but please do not just drop them off. Instead call 0845 259 0319 and collection can be arranged Monday to Saturday.
Several volunteers have already been signed up but if you would like to help in the shop or driving the furniture van, please get in touch.
The new furniture shop comes just months after the Hospice opened its first dedicated furniture store in Felixstowe.
St Elizabeth Hospice costs £8.7m a year to run and relies on donations and fundraising to meet the majority of these costs.
