Volunteer in our shops

Volunteering in our shops can be a rewarding way to support the Hospice. If you can spare a few hours a week we would love to hear from you. We have fifteen shops across Suffolk so there is bound to be one that is convenient for you.

Each shop has an employed manager and a team of hard working and dedicated volunteers. Volunteers provide general assistance in the shop and carry out duties such as sorting, pricing, displaying and selling mainly donated goods. No previous experience is required as full training will be given.

We also require volunteers at our distribution centre in Ipswich. Duties include sorting stock and preparing it to be sent to the shops for sale. We are also looking for volunteer drivers to visit our various shops to deliver goods.

Here are some great reasons why you should volunteer:

  • meet people and make new friends
  • become a valued member of a team
  • improve your skills and learn new ones
  • use your free time in a positive and worthwhile way
  • have fun

Betty volunteers in our Nacton Road shop, "I volunteer every Tuesday all day and Friday afternoons and help with sorting through bags and boxes, hanging up clothes, serving on till and general dusting and tidying. The ladies are lovely that work there, they are a really nice crowd and wehave a laugh. Volunteering has made a difference to my life, I really love it, it is the best thing I ever did. The Hospice is such a good cause, they do a wonderful job."

Sarah volunteers at our distribution centre one morning every week "I have been volunteering at the distribution centre for about three years now. I enjoy sorting through the donations, it is therapeutic, like having a clear out.It is great working in a team of people and we all get on well, volunteering is a social thing as much as anything else."
