Midnight Walk Brings Party Atmosphere to Ipswich

11 May 2025

St Elizabeth Hospice’s flagship fundraiser, the Midnight Walk, brought plenty of colour and fun to Ipswich over the weekend to help raise vital funds for the independent Suffolk charity.

Taking place on Saturday 10 May, at Trinity Park Events, this year’s Midnight Walk was a pyjama party themed night which saw over 740 supporters don their best outfits as they showed their love for the hospice.

The Midnight Walk also provided supporters with an opportunity to remember loved ones who are no longer with us and to raise funds for the charity through sponsorship – with over £56,000 already raised as donations continue to come in.

Hospice nurses and CEO Judi Newman cheered on the walkers

James Fox-Golding, Events and Challenges Manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “A massive well done to all our walkers this year – you did brilliantly! Thank you to all the amazing supporters who cheered the walkers on and to our fantastic volunteers who helped make the Midnight Walk possible.

“The Midnight Walk is a great event to be part of – it has an incredible atmosphere and brings people together to remember loved ones in a very special way.

“Every penny raised really will make a difference to the hospice’s services as we continue to evolve and expand our care to support more patients and their families across East & Mid-Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.”

The evening was compered by panto dame, Paul Leech and the walkers were officially set on their way by hospice Chief Executive Officer, Judi Newman.

Sponsored by Persimmon Homes Suffolk and with support from media partners GenX Radio, the event featured a new seven-mile circular route this year.

Starting at Trinity Park, it then took walkers to the hospice grounds to write heartfelt messages to remember loved ones on a special Memory Wall, before walking down to the iconic Ipswich Waterfront, where images of loved ones were projected onto the University of Suffolk building.

After this, walkers then returned to Trinity Park to complete their challenges and receive their all-important medals.

Marie Meecham, who was walking in memory of her dad, said: “We have done the Midnight Walk many times in memory of Dad who received care from the hospice team at home. The Midnight Walk is a such a fun and exciting event, all in aid of a good local cause – St Elizabeth Hospice.

“The hospice team are brilliant. Dad was so happy with the nurses who supported him and the care they gave. As a result, we have fundraised for the hospice for many years, so we can give back to the charity and show our gratitude.”
