Hospice announces limited edition Jubilee Memory Bears
To celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, St Elizabeth Hospice will be releasing 200 limited edition memory bears, in hospice brand colours, to mark the milestone.
Each bear will feature a unique number and will come with a St Elizabeth Hospice authenticity certificate and will be fully lined and hand stitched by needle crafter, Sue Marshall, who also makes the hospice’s much-loved Material Memory bears.
Lynn Maskell, legacy officer at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “We are delighted to be able to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with these stunning, limited edition Memory Bears.
“For a number of years Sue, has created hundreds of treasured Material Memory bears for families across Suffolk to remember loved ones no longer with us. Each one of these bears is unique and lovingly created and creating a limited number of handcrafted bears, seemed a fitting way to mark this brilliant milestone for The Queen, while also raising vital funds for the hospice, and it’s services, in the process.”
Material Memories are handcrafted keepsake bears made from the clothes of loved ones. All the bears are fully lined and hand stitched and can be made from almost any material, with Sue using her sewing talent to create a unique bear that is personal and serves as special reminder of loved ones no longer with us.
Sue has been making the unique bears, alongside the hospice, for four years and, in 2021, she passed the landmark 250th Material Memory bear being created.
“I am so pleased to support the hospice by making both the Material Memories and the special Jubilee Bears” said Sue. “I love making them and it was a pleasure to create these Jubilee Bears to recognise the milestone of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.”
Available to purchase on a first come, first served basis, Jubilee bears can be bought for a suggested donation of £40 per bear, with money raised being donated to the independent Suffolk charity.
