Footballers and Dancers bring festive joy to Hospice and Zest

16 December 2022

Ipswich School of Dancing and Ipswich Town FC Women brought plenty of festive fun to St Elizabeth Hospice as they visited the hospice and its young adult service, Zest.

Taking place on Friday 16th December, the visit saw Ipswich School of Dancing make sure the Zest young adults and staff were full of festive swing as they danced along to a number of Christmas hits, including All I Want for Christmas and Merry Christmas.

They were soon joined by players from Ipswich Town FC Women, who took the time to meet with hospice staff and the Zest young adults and their families, while also joining in with the Christmas dancing.

Emma Hawley, from Ipswich School of Dancing, said: “We have always been avid hospice supporters and were thrilled to be part of the Big Hoot Ipswich 2022. Their work in the local community is so vital to so many and it is always great to be able to support the charity.”

Ipswich Town FC Women forward, Natasha Thomas, added: “It has been really nice to meet with everyone today and to see their smiling faces. As a team, we all really appreciate the opportunity to visit local organisations, like Zest and the hospice, to spread the spirit of Christmas.”

Jodie Horwood, activities coordinator at Zest, said: “I have never seen so many happy, smiling faces at Zest! Thank you so much to Ipswich School of Dancing and Ipswich Town FC Women for visiting us today.

“They brought such joy and fun, and the Zest young adults loved joining in with the dancing with their own dance moves. It is so nice to see the footballers and dancers joining together and engaging with the young adults, it really does mean so much.”

Part of the St Elizabeth Hospice Group, Zest provides specialist medical and social support services to young adults living with progressive and life-limiting illnesses, while also ensuring the smooth transition from children’s hospice into adult care.

Held every Friday, from 10am-4pm at St Elizabeth Hospice, Zest Days are dedicated to Zest young adults aged 18 upwards, offering nurse-led specialist day service provision and the opportunity to take part in fun group sessions that can be enjoyed by all.
