Assisted Dying – Bi-Monthly Learning Sessions
any health or social care professional who has an interest in learning about jurisdictions where assisted dying has already been legalised and the progress of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill.
Assisted Dying – Bi-Monthly Learning Sessions
Over the last 18 months the Terminally Ill Adults bill has made progress through 3 readings in the House of Commons and two readings in the House of Lords where it is now in Committee stage.
Due to the polarisation of views on assisted dying discussions on the subject are often adversarial and focussed on opinion rather than research and international experience. In response to this we have been offering bimonthly webinars on the topic of assisted dying over the last year and have covered topics such as the definitions of assisted dying, the progress of the bill through Parliament, the evidence from Oregon and Australia on assisted dying practice and issues such as assisted dying and hospices and hospitals, the bereavement experience and conscientious objection.
This year we will look at other topics such as mental capacity and mental health in relation to assisted dying and we will follow the progress of the bill through the committee stage of the house of Lords.
