Caregiver Support Group

Since 2023, St Elizabeth Hospice has been running support groups for caregivers.

Our sessions provide a safe space for caregivers to connect with others caring for a loved one with a life-limiting illness.

What is on offer?

Led by St Elizabeth Hospice’s counsellors and the emotional wellbeing team, you will be able to connect with others in similar circumstances, share personal experiences and support each other.

The group aims to:

  • Create a space for self-compassion
  • Helps you learn new ways of coping through mindfulness and body awareness
  • Reduces feelings of loneliness, anxiety and distress
  • Increases feelings of empowerment
  • Provides you with the opportunity to express your feelings around your unique experience
  • Helps you communicate better with your loved ones
  • Bring awareness of what is true for you in the present moment

What can I expect?

Sessions cover 6 weeks

Different topics are covered each week by the hospice team. We expect you to attend all 6 sessions but we understand if you can only attend a few.

Locations

Sessions are available in person at St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich on Foxhall Road and at Beccles Hospital for patients in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area.

Attend knowing the person you care for is looked after

St Elizabeth Hospice can match you with a volunteer to sit with the person you care for while you attend the group.

Refreshments provided

Hot and cold drinks are provided at both our locations in Ipswich & Beccles.

I cannot commit to 6 sessions, what else is on offer?
