Zest Marks National Sporting Heritage Day 2022

03 October 2022

The Zest Young Adults took part in a number of sporting games and sport themed activities to mark National Sporting Heritage Day 2022.

Taking place on Friday 30th September, National Sporting Heritage Day provided an opportunity to take part in sporting heritage activities across the country and to celebrate the impact sports heritage has on all our lives.

This year’s theme celebrated diversity in sport, with the Zest young adults participating in a football penalty shoot-out, designing their own sport’s team badge, create their own sports’ pitches and many more activities.

Jodie Horwood, activities coordinator at Zest, said: “We have had a bit of everything and anything sport related today, especially rugby and football as we are a great lovers of those games among our Zest group.

“Today has been a great opportunity to think about staying active and engaging with sport in an inclusive way – we even created our own sports chants! Also, we would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to Ipswich Town Football Club for kindly donating the funds towards the football goals we used today.”

Part of the St Elizabeth Hospice Group, Zest provides specialist medical and social support services to young adults living with progressive and life-limiting illnesses, while also ensuring the smooth transition from children’s hospice into adult care.

Held every Friday, from 10am-4pm at St Elizabeth Hospice, Zest Days are dedicated to Zest young adults aged 18 upwards, offering nurse-led specialist day service provision and the opportunity to take part in fun group sessions that can be enjoyed by all.
