Xert yourself with the Great Xscape for St Elizabeth Hospice

03 September 2012

Are you up to the challenge of being blindfolded, driven to a secret location and forced to find your way back? Think it sounds easy?

Here’s the catch – in your teams of three or four you must complete your mission without using mobile phones, money, maps, navigation equipment and without the help of friends or family.

This will be the challenge for the Great Xscape sponsored event organised by local charity St Elizabeth Hospice which will take place on Saturday 13th October.

All money raised will help fund local St Elizabeth Hospice services for local people – as the charity is now providing day care and hospice beds in the area.

The event will start at the Hotel Victoria in Lowestoft. Registration is £10 per person and teams must register at 9.30am, ready to set off promptly for the secret location at 10am.

Leanne Carhart, event organiser, said ““We are asking every team member to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship, which is the equivalent of the cost of a St Elizabeth Hospice nurse for five hours. However we ask that participants aim to raise as much money as possible so we can continue to provide our services free of charge to the local community.

“We hope many teams will join in the fun and dress up, fancy dress is optional, but advised as it will help with their journey back to the hotel.”

There will be a fantastic prize for the winning team, as well as a prize for the most creative fancy dress. After teams have made their way to the set destination, there will be a well-deserved buffet and raffle waiting for them.

This year will be the first Great Xscape in the Lowestoft area since St Elizabeth Hospice expanded its services. The Hospice is investing £2.2million in local care for local people in north Suffolk and south east Norfolk over the next three years and every penny of the money raised from this event will go towards helping provide these services and improving life for people living with a progressive illness.

This year the Hospice opened inpatient beds and day services in north Suffolk, including Day Services at the Waveney Crossroads Care, Lowestoft. and Great Yarmouth.
