Wendy House donation for Hospice garden

13 August 2012

A children’s Wendy House has been donated to the Hospice and is now situated in the garden for young visitors to play in and enjoy.

Gemma Mann, who’s mum Carole Rowell is a Healthcare Assistant at the Hospice, donated the Wendy House after raising £2,300 from a music night held at Greshams in Ipswich, earlier this year. The music night was hugely popular, with the venue jam packed, and the raffle was also a huge success with prizes donated by local companies.

Mrs Mann, of Ipswich, said: “The Hospice is such a wonderful place and my Grandad was treated here, so I wanted to raise some money for such a good cause.

“The music night was the second fundraiser I’ve held for the Hospice, with the first one raising £2,500. With the money raised this time I wanted to buy something for the garden and that would appeal to children so they can enjoy the garden too.”

Andrew Bruce, Facilities and Health and Safety Manager, and Mrs Mann are also going to talk about what else Mrs Mann can do for the garden in the future.

Following the recent nice weather, the Wendy House has been used and enjoyed by many of the children who visit the Hospice.
