Want to be Santa this Friday?
Wanted – people to dress up as Santa all this Friday and collect money in their community for St Elizabeth Hospice.
This simple yet fun festive fundraising event, called Suffolk Santas, takes place this Friday December 9 and there is still time to be part of it.
Santas are asked to collect donations from their friends, colleagues, neighbours, relatives or community groups any time between 8am and 8pm. You decide how long you collect for – as little or as much time as you can spare.
By collecting just £65, each Santa will be funding five minutes of St Elizabeth Hospice care.
It is just £5 to register and you will be given a Santa suit, collecting bucket and identity badge.
Suffolk Santas’ event organiser Rachael Maidment (pictured below), of St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “For one day only Suffolk Santas will take to the streets spreading goodwill and collecting donations to help give St Elizabeth Hospice a Christmas gift of care.
“This is a simple yet fun way of raising money to help us continue to provide specialist services and support.
“Why not get a group of friends or relatives together and take to the streets en masse – or just wear the Santa hat at work and take the bucket round to your colleagues who with the festive season approaching should be in giving mood!”
This event is open to over 18s only.
St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people living in Suffolk with a progressive illness. The Hospice is an independent charity which provides services free of charge and costs £6.6 million a year to run.
It relies heavily on the support of the local community and more than three quarters of its income is generated by the public including from fundraising events like Suffolk Santas.
