Waist not, want not!

Successful slimmers boosted the stocks of a St Elizabeth Hospice shop by donating the clothes that are now too big for them.

Twenty-four binbags full of clothes were donated to the shop in Nacton Road, Ipswich, by members of the Ravenswood Sliming World Group.

After shedding pounds and seeing their waistlines shrink, they had scores of dresses, trousers and tops that were just sitting in their wardrobe now too big for them.

So group leader Emma Howells came up with the idea of donating them to her local Hospice shop to be sold to raise funds for the charity.

Mrs Howells said: “With so many members in our group doing so well with their weight loss, it was a great opportunity for us to raise some money for a brilliant cause, we were really happy to be able to help.”

Mrs Howells and some of her members visited the shop, which has recently had a refit, to hand over the items to staff and volunteers who sorted them to put on sale.

Proceeds will go towards the running costs of St Elizabeth Hospice, an independent charity which provides services for people from East Suffolk who have an illness from which they will not recover.

Jason Rudderham, the Hospice’s retail sales manager, said: “We rely on good quality donations to keep our shops stocked so the Slimming World members hit on a fantastic idea here. We are so grateful that they thought of supporting the Hospice in this way.”
