Waist not? Want not!
Calling all slimmers!
If you’re dropping a clothes size this year, why not drop off and donate the outfits that are now too big to your local St Elizabeth Hospice shop.
The Hospice is holding a Waist Not, Want Not campaign and wants men and women losing weight to bring in their old clothes to any of its 15 shops in Suffolk or the distribution centre in Ipswich.
Fiona Browning, retail area manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “If you’ve stuck to your New Year’s resolution to lose weight, and now need a whole new wardrobe, please give your old clothes to your nearest Hospice shop. The funds raised through our shops helps us provide care free of charge for local patients and their families. You can also look for new outfits to buy at our shops.“
The local Ravenswood Slimming World group in Ipswich has already pledged to take part (see picture) and other slimming groups are welcome to join in.
Group leader Emma Howells had urged her members last year to donate their old clothes to the shops and is delighted the Hospice has decided to roll the idea out into a Suffolk-wide campaign.
Mrs Howells said: “With so many members in our group doing so well with their weight loss, it is a great opportunity for us to raise some money for a brilliant cause.”
St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity which provides specialist services for people in Suffolk living life with a progressive illness. It costs £6.6 million a year to run and more than three quarters of its income is generated by the local community in many ways, including its through its shops and fundraising events.
