Volunteers needed for new Hospice shop in Great Yarmouth

St Elizabeth Hospice is opening a shop in Great Yarmouth to help raise funds for the new patient services it is providing for local people.

The shop will open in Great Yarmouth town centre in a few weeks – and an appeal has been issued for volunteers to help out and for people to donate second hand goods.

The charity, which is investing £2.2m over the next three years to provide local care for local people living with a progressive illness, is appealing for shop helpers who can spare a few hours a week or month to suit.

Duties include customer service, stock processing and till work. Full training will be given.

All funds raised from the shop will help St Elizabeth Hospice provide its services free of charge to local people.

This is the charity’s 16th shop, and the first in Great Yarmouth and more are planned for north Suffolk and south Norfolk.

Jason Rudderham, St Elizabeth Hospice’s area manager, said: “The income generated from our shops plays a significant part in helping us to continue to provide our services free of charge.

“We already have 15 shops in Suffolk which are very well supported by the local communities and this is our first in Norfolk and I hope local people will get behind it and help in any way they can.”

If you would like to donate stock – such as secondhand clothes, books and bric-a-brac you can drop it off once the shop has opened.

In March St Elizabeth Hospice announced it was opening a raft of new services for patients and their families in Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

These include inpatient beds at All Hallows Hospital, Ditchingham as well as day services in Lowestoft and Ditchingham. Further day services will open in Great Yarmouth later this year. It already provides day services in Beccles.
