Volunteers needed for hospice’s new retail centre

15 September 2016

St Elizabeth Hospice is opening a brand new retail centre in Martlesham and they are looking to recruit a team of volunteers to help when it opens.

The hospice opened its first retail centre in Holywells Road, Ipswich, 18 months ago and it has proved so successful, the local charity has decided to open another one in Martlesham.

The retail centre is expected to be very popular and will require a number of volunteers to help in a variety of roles.

Patrick Otter, St Elizabeth Hospice’s retail area manager, said: “Following the opening of our hugely popular retail centre in town last year we have been eager to open another one in a community area for a while, and Martlesham is an ideal location for our second retail centre.

“All our shops get very busy and we expect this new retail centre to have a constant flow of customers, so we need a number of capable volunteers to assist in the store.

“If you love vinyl, can spot an antique or love to organise, and want to help your local hospice, we’d love to hear from you.”

Volunteer roles will include serving customers, using the till, merchandising and stock preparation for new and donated goods, van drivers, creating appealing displays, and admin co-ordinators.

The store will open in late autumn and will sell a range of good quality second-hand items including: furniture, clothes, accessories, homeware, DVDs, vinyl, books and more.
