Tractor Run Celebrates 20 Years Fundraising for Hospice
Waldringfield Tractor Run is celebrating twenty years of supporting St Elizabeth Hospice as well as raising over £27,000 for the independent Suffolk charity in the process.
Taking place on Saturday 19th August, for its landmark anniversary, the much-loved event saw a convoy of 34 tractors travelling 25 miles around Suffolk to raise money for St Elizabeth Hospice and the Kirton Scouts group.
The convoy began in Martlesham before passing through Waldringfield, Brightwell, Bucklesham, Nacton, Levington and Kirton. While the convoy stopped at Kirton Recreation Ground for lunch, giving the opportunity for the public to view the tractors up close. As well as this, a fundraising raffle was held and food and drink were available for everyone to enjoy.
Kelly Nekrews, Community Fundraiser at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Thank you so much to Waldringfield Tractor Run for twenty years of brilliant fundraising for the hospice. It really is appreciated and your continued support has made such a difference to our services and those under our care.
“We also would like to say a special ‘thank you’ this year for inviting our Zest young adults to the event. They all had a fabulous time and loved seeing the fantastic range of tractors that took part in this year’s brilliant tractor run.”
The event also provided a special treat for a number of young adults from the hospice’s young adult service, Zest, who enjoyed the chance to see the tractors close up, including George Bellinger, who said: “It has been very nice to see the old tractors today and I would love to do it again.
“My favourite tractor was the Ford 7600, as I love Ford cars and vehicles. They are classic and it was really cool to see, as well as all the other tractors too.
“The amount the group have raised for the charity over the years is amazing and I know it will be well used. I just want to say a big ‘thank you’ from Zest and the whole hospice for your great support.”
