Take the plunge for St Elizabeth Hospice’s tenth Christmas Day Dip

23 December 2013

More than 250 people have signed up for St Elizabeth Hospice’s tenth Christmas Day Dip in Felixstowe  – which is just a week away.

Among those signed up is Pauline Barr who does the dip every year in memory of her mum who was cared for by the Hospice.

Miss Barr, 35, of Felixstowe said: “This will be my 6th year taking part in the Christmas Day Dip and as in previous years, I will be taking part in memory of my mum, Pat Barr, who volunteered at the Hospice for 18 years, before she was cared for by the Hospice herself.

“It is a fabulous event which brings so many friends and family together and allows us all to remember those who are dearly loved and no longer with us.”

St Elizabeth Hospice’s Events Fundraiser Emily Sullivan said: “We have already had more than 250 people sign up to take part in the Dip, and we are expecting lots more people to sign up over the next few days.

“This year is going to be our biggest and best yet, so if you’ve already signed up, why not get your family and friends involved and spread the Christmas spirit!”

You can turn up on the day and register from 8.30am in front of Mannings Amusements, Sea Road, Felixstowe.

Registration costs just £5 per person and participants are asked to raise sponsorship. Participants can opt to pay £10 to register and receive a Christmas Day Dip T-shirt.

Last year the event raised over £40,000 for St Elizabeth Hospice, an independent charity which costs £9.1 million a year to run, with around three quarters of that figure coming from the local community.
