Take on Unique ‘Snowdon at Night’ Challenge for Hospice

04 August 2023

St Elizabeth Hospice is calling on supporters to join a team of hospice staff and climb Wales’ highest mountain at night.

Taking place on 14th October, a team from the independent Suffolk charity will be taking on this unique challenge which will see them climb the 1,085m high Mount Snowdon at night, before returning to ground level for a well-earned breakfast and the charity is encouraging supporters to join with staff as part of this fundraising challenge.

James Fox-Golding, Events and Challenges Manager at the hospice, said: “We have a fantastic team of hospice staff from across all departments, including our nursing team, taking on this really unique challenge and we would love for supporters to join the team too and help raise vital funds for the hospice.

“Every penny raised really will make a difference to the hospice and those under our care, so please do join us for this very special fundraising challenge.”

Beginning in the town of Llanberis, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, the challenge will see supporters trekking to the top of Snowdon at night, fully supported all the way by experienced Mountain Leaders.

Among the team of hospice staff taking on the challenge is, Reception and Inpatient Unit Co-ordinator, Dawn Cullimore.

“I have climbed Snowdon a few times, but never at night, so should this be a very exciting challenge,” said Dawn. “I am really looking forward to the joining with the hospice team and supporters in taking on this challenge and helping each other along the way to achieve our goal.

“Fundraising is crucial, not only to allow the hospice to continue to operate but to expand and improve our services so we can reach and help more patients and their families.

“Two people I loved both died on the hospice’s inpatient unit and it is so important other families can have the help and care, which my family received during those difficult times, for years to come.”

Minimum sponsorship target for this challenge is £345 and the hospice fundraising team will guide all supporters along their fundraising journey.
