St Elizabeth Hospice’s Christmas and New Year’s Day Dips still going ahead
St Elizabeth Hospice’s Christmas and New Year’s Day Dips still going ahead
Following the sad news that Lowestoft’s Christmas Day Swim has been cancelled, St Elizabeth Hospice is hoping local people will take part in one of their Festive Dips instead.
St Elizabeth Hospice runs both a Christmas Day Dip, in Felixstowe, and a New Year’s Day Dip, in Gorleston and is inviting people who still want their festive swim to join them for one of these popular events.
Leanne Carhart, St Elizabeth Hospice’s Events Fundraiser, said: “It’s such a shame that the Lowestoft Christmas Day Swim has been cancelled after so many years of success, but we hope that everyone who would have taken part in the Lowestoft swim will join us on Christmas morning in Felixstowe, or start their New Year with a splash with us at Gorleston.
“Our Christmas Day Dip is now in its tenth year, and it’s growing year on year, with around 500 local supporters expected to run into the sea on Christmas morning, whereas our New Year’s Day Dip is only in our second year, but we hope this will also increase in popularity this year and raise more money for the Hospice, which provides local Hospice care for local people.”
Register today for both the Christmas and New Year’s Day Dips by visiting www.stelizabethhospice.org.uk.
The registration fee is £5 per person for both events and participants are asked to raise sponsorship.
Or participants for the Christmas Day Dip can opt to pay £10 to register and receive a Christmas Day Dip T-shirt.
