Sizewell C Chooses Hospice as Charity Partner

06 August 2024

Sizewell C has selected St Elizabeth Hospice as its first official charity partner, providing the charity with an important funding stream for the next two years.

An independent Suffolk charity, St Elizabeth Hospice helps people living with progressive and life-limiting illnesses throughout East & Mid Suffolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney, offering care and support to them and their loved ones to maximise the time they have left.

Every year, the charity delivers free care to over 4,000 patients and their families, costing around £12m to facilitate. The charity is dependent on external support to make this work, with around 70% of funds being raised via local business support and community generosity, such as retail shops, donations, and fundraising activities.

Liz Baldwin, Corporate and Sponsorship Fundraising Manager for St Elizabeth Hospice, said:

“We are delighted to have been selected as Sizewell C’s charity partner for a two-year period. Their funding will make a great difference to our services and to the patients and families under our care.

“Every year our hospice team supports thousands of people, throughout East & Mid Suffolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney, during times in their lives when care matters most.

“These free services would not be possible without the continued support of the local community and the generosity of businesses, such as Sizewell C, and the whole hospice is extremely grateful for this invaluable support.”

St Elizabeth Hospice was selected following a vote by the Sizewell C team. The first dedicated fundraising event will take place on 20 September, when some of the Sizewell C team will embark on a Suffolk Charity Walk. All proceeds of Sizewell Creative’s first production, two sell-out performances of Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s Fludde (Noah’s Flood) in July, were also shared between St Elizabeth’s Hospice and the Zoological Society of East Anglia.

Julia Pyke, Sizewell C Joint MD, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting St Elizabeth Hospice as our official charity partner and looking forward to helping them raise much-needed funds so they can continue to deliver excellent care and valuable support to people in the Suffolk community.”
