Shine Bright for Your Hospice This Christmas!
As Christmas fast approaches, many supporters will be ‘shining bright’ for St Elizabeth Hospice as they light up their homes with festive displays to fundraise for the charity.
‘Shine Bright’ sees St Elizabeth Hospice supporters decorate their homes in festive lights to celebrate Christmas, while encouraging the community to donate towards these displays in aid of the hospice.
Among these supporters are Diane and Peter Chilver, whose lights will be switched on at 6pm, on 7th December, at their home in Edmonton Road, Kesgrave.
The couple have held their fundraising lights for various charities, including St Elizabeth Hospice and Zest, for over 25 years, with this year’s display raising funds for St Elizabeth Hospice.
“We have many personal connections to the hospice and Zest, due to the excellent care family and friends have received from their services,” said Diane who has also volunteered for the hospice since 2010 at a number of hospice fundraising events, including Midnight Walk, Suffolk Dog Day and Great Garden Trail.
“We can’t wait for the community to see our festive display! Our home, including the walls, windows, roof, and front garden, will sparkle with thousands of lights, featuring Father Christmas, a nativity scene, and so much more.
“Our lights will be on every night from 3pm-10pm until 2nd January and all our welcome to the official launch and countdown at 6pm, on 7th December.
“Supporting the hospice through our fundraising lights and volunteering for the charity, is a fantastic way of saying ‘thank you’ for the brilliant work they do and I hope the community will join us, once again, in showing all our gratitude and raising funds and awareness for the hospice.”
All funds from Shine Bright will go towards the charity’s annual Christmas appeal, Be a Star, for 2024, which supports the hospice’s vital services.
On average every Christmas, the hospice provides vital care to more than 1,300 people living with progressive and life-limiting illnesses and their families across East & Mid Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, for many of whom it will be their last Christmas spent together.
Through Be a Star, the independent Suffolk charity is encouraging the community to support the hospice during this very special time of year and help staff ensure patients and families can have the Christmas they deserve.
Kelly Nekrews, community fundraiser at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Thank you so much to Diane and Peter, and to all our generous supporters shining bright this year for St Elizabeth Hospice.
“It is always a pleasure to see the fantastic range of imaginative displays supporters create to bring joy and sparkle each Christmas, while helping raise vital funds to support our services throughout the local community during the Christmas period.”
