Remembering someone special this Christmas

16 December 2019

Hundreds of supporters attended a special Christmas Remembrance service supporting St Elizabeth Hospice at St Mary Le Tower on Sunday 15 December.

The event began with a beautiful lantern procession from Sailmakers shopping centre, with children from the Antonia Cobbin School of Dance singing carols, and mini donkeys joining the walk to the St Mary Le Tower Church.

This was followed by a poignant remembrance service at the church which included festive songs and carols, as well as reflective readings for those thinking of lost loved ones at this time of year.

At St Mary Le Tower there was also a ‘Tree of Love’ filled with dedications to all those people being remembered and celebrated at the event, which will be on display until the new year.

Rachel Slattery-Klein, individual giving fundraiser, said: “Our Christmas Remembrance Service is always a very moving event for everyone involved, as many people want to remember loved ones at this time of year.

“Christmas is an opportunity for us to reconnect with families who have been a part of the hospice, as well as well offering people a chance to meet others and share the stories of those being remembered.

“We would like to thank everyone who made a dedication for the hospice. Each one will help us continue to care for people living with a terminal illness as well as providing support to their families, friends and carers.”

St Elizabeth Hospice would also like to thank: Cannon Jenkin and St Mary Le Tower, the Antonia Cobbin School of dance for their singing, Ipswich hospital community choir, all the readers and Alfie and Rubix the miniature donkeys from Miniature donkeys for wellbeing ltd.

Anyone who couldn’t make the remembrance service event, but would like to make a donation to the hospice this Christmas can do so as part of the hospice’s Care at Christmas appeal: stelizabethhospice.org.uk/careatchristmas
