R3 raises over £3,875 for hospice in memory of colleague
More than £3,875 has been raised for St Elizabeth Hospice by R3, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals, in memory of their former colleague and friend, Paul Pittman, who passed away in February 2023 while under the hospice’s care.
R3, which is the trade association for the entire community of the UK’s insolvency and restructuring professionals, raised this brilliant sum for the independent Suffolk charity through hosting the R3 Eastern Charity Bike Ride on 19 April.
The fundraising bike ride saw cyclists complete either a 40-mile ride or 15 mile meander around the Suffolk countryside, starting and finishing at The Four Horseshoes inn, Thornham Magna.
Alistair Bacon of AMB Law and Eastern Chairman of R3, who organised R3 Eastern Charity Bike Ride, said: “Paul was a hugely loved member of our community who was taken from us far too soon.
“It has been an honour and a privilege to be able to make this small contribution in Paul’s name and we are so grateful to all those who sponsored our riders or donated to this most excellent and worthy cause.”
An independent charity, every year St Elizabeth Hospice delivers specialist palliative care to more than 3,000 people living with a progressive or life-limiting illness, and their families, throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
Liz Baldwin, Corporate and Sponsorship Fundraising Manager, said: “Thank you and well done to all the cyclists and to R3 who made the Eastern Charity Bike Ride such a success.
“It really is an amazing thing to do in Paul’s memory and the whole hospice team are so grateful for your fantastic support, which will make a difference to our services as we continue to expand our care to support more patients and their families throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.”
