Over 1,500 women gearing up for Saturday’s Midnight Walk
Over 1,500 women are gearing up for Saturday’s Midnight Walk
They have have signed up for St Elizabeth Hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year, the Midnight Walk, which takes place on Saturday 19th May.
It is a ladies-only sponsored night-time circular walk around Ipswich, which starts from Ipswich Town Football Club in Portman Road.
Registration has now closed but you can still support the event by sponsoring the women taking part.
Those taking part can dress to impress on the night by buying fancy dress merchandise from our shops, at the Hospice or just before the walk from our stall in the ground.
Event organiser Emily Sullivan said: “It is great news to have 1,500 women all committed to a great night out in support of the Hospice. It will be an amazing atmosphere, and the more money raised, the more it will help us to continue to provide our services free of charge.”
She added she was grateful to the 200 volunteers who will help out on the night. “Without them we could not put on an event of this scale.”
Walkers can arrive from 9.30pm and the walk will start at 11pm. This year there are two routes to choose from, a five mile and an eight mile.
The longer route poignantly passes the Hospice on Foxhall Road, Ipswich, where there will be an opportunity for reflection and to hang a personal message on the Tree of Remembrance.
This year there is a school disco themed warm-up, men dressed as Spartans to cheer you on at refreshment stop two and a bacon roll and hot chocolate waiting for you at the finish line.
New for this year, there will also be a photo booth for you and your friends to capture four different images so you can keep the memories of a fantastic night.
