One Month Until Midnight Walk 2026
There is just under a month to go until St Elizabeth Hospice’s Midnight Walk returns for 2026.
Families come to St Elizabeth Hospice at all stages of life, with increasing numbers of younger people and young families needing support.
Last year alone, 555 local people aged 45 and under received care. Behind every figure is a family navigating difficult moments, which is why events like the Midnight Walk are so important to the independent Suffolk charity.
Taking place on Saturday 16 May, at Christchurch Park, this year’s Midnight Walk sees the hospice encourage supporters to don their favourite superhero themed costumes as they complete sponsored walks of 6 or 9 miles in aid of the charity.
Sponsored by Knights Lowe, the event will start at Christchurch Park, with the route taking walkers to the hospice grounds where they will be invited to write heartfelt messages in memory of loved ones on a special Memory Wall.
Before continuing through Suffolk’s county town past such landmarks as Ipswich Town Hall, The Regent Theatre and Christchurch Park.
James Fox-Golding, Events and Challenges Manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “The excitement is building as the Midnight Walk draws closer.
“We can’t wait to join with supporters and the local community to show our love for the hospice by wearing our best superhero costumes and bringing an incredible party atmosphere to Ipswich.
“Midnight Walk is always a highlight in the hospice calendar, with every step helping to raise vital funds for patients and families in our care. Stories like Gemma’s are a powerful reminder of just how important that support is.
“By signing up, rallying your friends and family, and assembling your own superhero team, you can become hospice heroes and help ensure people in your community receive compassionate care when they need it most.”
With last year’s event raising over £64,000 to support the hospice’s vital services, the Midnight Walk returns for 2026 offering supporters and the local community a chance to party and raise funds for the hospice through sponsorship, as well as an opportunity to remember loved ones who are no longer with us.
“I know from volunteering and taking part in previous Midnight Walks what an amazing event it is, and this year will be no different.
“It is a challenge, but the support of fellow walkers and the people who come out to cheer you on carries you through. I cannot wait for Midnight Walk 2026!” said Gemma, who is from Ipswich.
“This year I will be completing the 6-mile route with a group of 15 friends – called Team Terry. We are already planning which superhero costumes we will wear, but I know this year will be more emotional for me as I will be thinking of Dad.
“It will be the first time I take a moment to reflect at the Memory Wall at the hospice, giving me the opportunity for personal reflection and remembrance.
“Every pound donated at Midnight Walk will make a difference to those under the hospice’s compassionate care.
“From my own experience, I know just how vital their services are, and the incredible amount the hospice must fundraise each year shows why our collective support, as a community, is so important.
“You never know when you might need the hospice, but I know from personal experience that their support is always there, with staff who step forward for you and your family whenever it’s needed.”
All ticket proceeds and donations for Midnight Walk will go to St Elizabeth Hospice, which every year provides support to over 4,000 patients & families living with life-limiting illnesses in East & Mid-Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
