Midnight Walk goes green
St Elizabeth Hospice’s annual Midnight Walk is back for its 14th year, with a new look and feel for 2020. The changes continue as we celebrate the start of a new decade, with two new routes for Ipswich’s midnight walkers to enjoy on 9 May. Catering for all audiences, the Midnight Walk now has a 10km walk and a half marathon route for those looking to challenge themselves.
Last year’s event saw 1,966 participants taking to the streets of Ipswich, raising over £170,000 for the hospice.
The impact on the environment has also been taken in to account with early bird tickets being the only way to get a coveted Midnight Walk 2020 branded t shirt for the event. With an increasing spotlight on the importance of sustainable clothing, this new ticket system ensures that there will be little to no waste associated with the event, which has been a priority for the fundraising team.
Rebecca Jedrzejewski, the events and challenges fundraiser at the hospice said: “The Midnight Walk continues to be a vital event for the hospice, with the money raised equalling the amount needed to run the hospice for one week.
“This year, we’ve given the event a makeover, with new branding and even more to enjoy on the night which will be revealed as we get closer to the event.
“We also want to appeal to those supporters looking for more of a challenge with a new half-marathon route added alongside the 10km route. Early bird tickets are on sale now for £13 with each walker encouraged to fundraise with their friends and family. We also need an army of volunteers to help us run the event, so if you don’t fancy walking you can still be involved.”
