Men Run for Sue in Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon in aid of Hospice
Two men have signed up for the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon to ‘Run for Sue’ and raise money for the Hospice.
Ryan Goldsmith, 28, and Ben Churchyard, 27, both of Kesgrave, signed up to run the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon in-memory of their best friend’s mum, Sue Poole, who was cared for at St Elizabeth Hospice.
Sue Poole died on 1st April 2013 at St Elizabeth Hospice, after spending the last week of her life there.
Ryan, who works at the Phone Shop in Tesco, Martlesham, said: “We signed up for the Ipswich Half Marathon in-memory of Sue. Those that knew Sue will know what a lovely, kind, warm-hearted, woman she was.
“Ben and I hold a special place in our hearts for Sue as she was a special friend and a second mum to us. After speaking to Sue’s family, we agreed St Elizabeth Hospice was the best charity to raise money for.”
Ben added: “I’ve done two half marathons before but not for charity, so this time running for Sue, it will mean something.”
The twosome only signed up for the Ipswich Half Marathon a month ago, but they’re both looking forward to the challenge and to raising money for St Elizabeth Hospice, a local charity who provides local Hospice care for local people and who are one of the charity partners for this year’s Half Marathon.
So far the boys have raised £575 of their £750 target and you can sponsor them here
They aim to complete the undulating 13.1 mile course through Ipswich’s town centre in under two and a half hours, and Sue’s husband John, and son, Liam, will be there to support them on the day.
