Lost ring found in snow with the help of metal-detecting Hospice supporters
When Gareth Johns, 34, lost his wedding ring while clearing snow off his car in the snowy St Elizabeth Hospice car park, an appeal to community spirit led to him being reunited with his ring.
Gareth’s brother Andrew Johns, 44, contacted BBC Radio Suffolk to appeal for anybody with a metal detector to come forward and help them find the ring.
That appeal was answered by Ian Roberts, 81, of Quebec Drive, Kesgrave and Gerry Keeler, 77, of Lulworth Avenue, Ipswich. Within just one minute of beginning their search, Ian had located the ring hidden in the snow, and it is now safely reunited with its owner.
Jane Petit, Chief Executive, St Elizabeth Hospice, said “Stories like this serve to remind us how important the support of the community is to all those who use the services of the Hospice. I am extremely thankful to both Ian and Gerry for taking time out of their days to come and help us find Mr Johns’ ring.”
