Looking back at RideFest 2020

02 September 2020

Like so many of our events this year RideFest did not run according to our plans and hopes. Usually the event would have ended in a ‘grand final’ where the best performing teams would ride off against each other for the final positions. Due to Covid-19 and the lockdown restrictions we were not able to hold the final and we were not able to properly bring the event to it’s usual close.

We’ve decided to draw a line under RideFest 2020 and look back and the wonderful efforts of those that took part and raised money for the hospice, becasue while we still could run the event we had some wonderful participants who combined competition and fun in equal measure.

To begin we’d like to thank all of the businesses that took part: Wheatley Associates, Orwell Motorcycles, Super Structures, Derivco, George Baker Group, Breheny Civil Engineering, Buck Consultants, Itineris, Morgan Sindall, Pretty’s Solicitors, Just Essentials and the hospice team.

From our heats Breheny Needham took top spot on our leaderboard and we will be sending them the coveted 2020 winners yellow jersey.

“We all enjoyed the RideFest 2020 race. It is a shame that the finals could not take place, but regardless we have had a tremendous time competing in yet another RideFest raising awareness and donations for St Elizabeth Hospice.

We are pleased to have won the ‘Yellow Jersey’ for 2020 and I am proud of the team’s efforts. Thank you St Elizabeth Hospice for yet another fantastic event!”

Andrew Fleming – Managing Director, Breheny Civil Engineering

Breheny ‘Needham’ – 78.26km

Breheny ‘Huntingdon’ – 75.45km

Super Structures – 74.67km

We also ran our senior management competition with managers and CEO’s cycling as far as they could in 15 minutes against each other.

Wheatley Associates – 13.79km

Itineris 1 – 13.47km

Itineris 2 – 13.44

km

Special mentions:

Best Individual Performance (10 minutes) – 10.36km – Morgan Sindall

Most money raised – George Baker Shipping

It wasn’t all hard competition though, there was plenty of time for fun, and it was all to raise funds for the hospice.

Congratulations to everyone that took part.

The funds raised will benefit some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
