Hospice’s fundraising Hangar Dances reach £100,000 milestone
A 1940’s inspired Hangar Dance saw hundreds of people stepping back in time to raise £8,000 for St Elizabeth Hospice.
The event was held over two nights at Ellough Airfield, Beccles, on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th June – and Saturday night was a sell-out.
Most people dressed up in 1940’s war-time costumes and everyone enjoyed period music from the Super Swing Big Band and a barbecue and raffle.
Saturday’s dance was the 25th held by Hospice care supporters – and brings the grand total raised to £100,000 over 14 years.
Organisers Ken and Sue Woodgate, of Oulton Broad, said they were pleased with how the weekend’s events went and thanked everyone for their support.
Mr Woodgate added: “The weekend’s dances raised around £8,000 which contributes towards the £100,000 raised over the years. That is a fantastic amount of money to support hospice patients and their families to live life to the full.”
Fiona Ginn, of St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “On behalf of St Elizabeth Hospice I would like to thank all those involved with the Hangar Dances, particularly Ken and Sue Woodgate who have put in many hours hard work to ensure that the events were a success. Both evenings were thoroughly enjoyed and the money raised will contribute to providing Hospice services in the local area.”
