Hospice’s first shop has moved to bigger premises

06 December 2013
The first ever St Elizabeth Hospice shop has been so well supported by the Hadleigh community it has been moved to bigger premises.

The St Elizabeth Hospice shop , which opened in Maiden Way around 25 years ago when the charity was launched, has moved to 98 High Street.

The new shop was officially opened on Thursday 5th December by a group of volunteers who have supported it over the years, some from the day the shop opened in 1989.

Supporters are encouraged to drop in and donate goods for sale in the new shop. All proceeds help the charity provide services free of charge to people in East Suffolk, including Hadleigh, whether they need them at home or at the Hospice.

Shop manager Margaret Yetton thanked local people for all their support and urged them to come and see the new premises and to donate.
She said: “The St Elizabeth Hospice shop was the first to open when the appeal was set up to build a Hospice for East Suffolk. We are proud of that history and it has only been such a success and raised so much money due to the volunteers, customers and people who have donated to this shop over the years. We hope everyone will continue to support us at our new premises and bring along donations so we can ensure we are fully stocked.”

Items can be donated to the new shop Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 4pm.

St Elizabeth Hospice now has 26 shops and all proceeds help fund specialist care and support for people living with a progressive illness, and support for their families and carers.

The Hospice costs £9.1m a year to provide its services free of charge with the majority of that figure coming from the community.
