Hospice to benefit from Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon

02 May 2011

St Elizabeth Hospice is one of two nominated charities for this year’s Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon taking place on Sunday 25th September.

This race is sponsored by leading chartered accountants and business advisors, Larking Gowen, and is organised jointly by Ipswich Borough Council and Ipswich Jaffa Running Club. The other nominated charity to benefit from the half marathon is the Team Ipswich Sports Foundation.

Carl Brooks, Business Income Generation Manager at St Elizabeth Hospice, said, “We are delighted to be chosen again as one of the charities for the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon 2011. We are hoping that even more runners than last year will raise sponsorship to help us continue to provide services free of charge for people living life with a progressive illness and support for their families.”

Larking Gowen partner, David King, commented, “We believe this is an excellent way to continue our commitment to the local community and, by supporting this great event, we hope to raise awareness of the two chosen local charities.  One of the great things about the half marathon is the amount of money it raises for good causes and we are delighted that St Elizabeth Hospice and the Team Ipswich Sports Foundation will benefit from being the chosen charities for the 2011 event.”

The race starts and finishes at Northgate Sports Centre and there are plenty of opportunities along the way for the public to cheer the runners on. The date has been moved from the busy August Bank Holiday weekend to ensure that both runners and spectators are able to come out in force to support this very popular event in the running calendar.
