Hospice staff to take on 100k fundraising walk

St Elizabeth Hospice staff, Rebecca Ross, Abby Powlett and Jules Kennedy are taking on the 100k Jurassic Coast Challenge, in aid of the hospice, Multiple Sclerosis Society and Breast Cancer Now.

Commencing on 14th May, the challenge will see Rebecca, Abby and Jules start their walk at Corfe Castle on a route which passes Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Weymouth before finishing in the Dorset town of Bridport.

Rebecca, who is Head of Estates and Facilities at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “We decided to take on the 100k walk for the hospice, Multiple Sclerosis Society and Breast Cancer Now because they are causes very close to our hearts, through our work and with members of our family and friends receiving support from them.

“We think the challenge will take 24 hours of continuous walking to complete, so it will be very tough. Training is going well and we have been so pleased with the support we have received so far. We are looking forward to starting the walk in May.

“Any donations we receive, for the challenge and the upcoming Craft and Vintage Fayre, will be really appreciated and help make a difference to these three brilliant charities.”

As well as their 100k walk, the group will also be raising additional funds for the three charities by hosting a Craft and Vintage Fayre, between 10.30am-4pm on 10th April at Martlesham Community Hall. Entry costs £1 for those aged over 12-years-old, and the day will feature music, refreshments, stalls and a raffle.
