Hospice Staff Member Takes on Running Challenges
A Suffolk man will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon and Manchester Marathon this spring, in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice.
Simon Ward, who lives in Ipswich, will be taking on the two races, on Sunday 6th March and Sunday 3rd April, in support of the hospice which every year provides free services to improve life for more than 3,000 people living with a progressive or life limiting illness throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney
Simon, who has worked as Senior Press and Campaigns Officer at the hospice since June 2020, said: “I am a keen runner and enjoy taking part in races as and when I can. Since joining the hospice, it has been an ambition of mine to complete some fundraising runs for the charity, as every day I see the amazing work the team do and the impact their care has on so many people in my local community.
“Unfortunately, with Covid-19 I have had to wait for organised races to start up again but when I saw the launch of the Cambridge Half Marathon and Manchester Marathon I knew these would be brilliant challenges for me, especially as I have only run one marathon before!
“So far training is going well and I am really excited for the races to begin. I am so grateful for all the brilliant support I have received already and would really appreciate any donations people can give to my challenge in support of this brilliant charity.”
