Hospice receives joint working award and donation
St Elizabeth Hospice has received an award for ‘Joint Working’ along with a donation of £3,000 from Suffolk Community Foundation.
The Joint Working Award was presented to hospice staff and patients recently following the local charity’s transitional care service and joint working with EACH, Ipswich Hospital and other children’s services.
St Elizabeth Hospice has been developing its young adult and transitional care service for the last two years, helping young patients transition from children’s services into adult hospice care.
The hospice, which provides care for people aged 14 and upwards, works with EACH, the hospital and other organisations to ensure a smooth and easy transition for young patients, building connections with them through regular, meaningful visits to the hospice in Foxhall Road, Ipswich.
Suffolk Community Foundation recognised the hard work of St Elizabeth Hospice, and County Councillor for the Hardwick area and Cabinet Member for Communities Sarah Stamp presented the award and cheque for the donation at the hospice on 26 February.
Mrs Stamp was joined by other councillors, along with staff from Suffolk County Council, St Elizabeth Hospice, EACH, Ipswich Hospital and some of the young adult patients and their families who will benefit from the donation.
Stephen Singleton, Chief Executive at Suffolk Community Foundation added: “We are delighted to see St Elizabeth Hospice receive this award in recognition of their excellent partnership working locally for the benefit of young people and local families. The hospice does extraordinary work with such positive outcomes. Well done to all involved in this extraordinary project.”
Helen Finlinson, St Elizabeth Hospice’s young adult care and transition lead, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Suffolk Community Foundation for their generous donation and for awarding us with the Joint Working Award.
“Working in partnership with EACH, the hospital and other organisations has allowed us to develop our young adult service and it has grown so much in the last two years, with 27 young adults now under our care.
“The £3,000 donation will mean we can continue to develop our young adult service and will make a big difference to our young patients and their families and carers.”
