Hospice opens its first ever furniture shop

04 November 2011

St Elizabeth Hospice has opened its first furniture shop. The new two-storey store opened in Great Eastern Square, Felixstowe, on Friday 4th November.

It stocks good quality second hand furniture at reasonable prices.

The Hospice is appealing for more donations of stock such as sofas, cabinets, tables and chairs.

Drivers will come and collect any suitable items from your home free of charge Monday to Saturday.

Volunteers are also needed to help in the shop and flexible hours can be arranged to suit. Duties include customer service, working on the till, and sorting stock.

St Elizabeth Hospice’s Retail Sales Manager Jason Rudderham said: “This is our first shop dedicated to selling donated furniture and we hope local people will support it by coming in to browse the stock, donating unwanted items or volunteering.”

All proceeds from the shop go to St Elizabeth Hospice, which costs £6.6m a year to run and relies on fundraising to provide its services to people in Suffolk free of charge.

This is the 15th St Elizabeth Hospice shop to open in Suffolk. Shops in Meredith Road, Ipswich, and Stowmarket stock some furniture alongside clothes and bric-a-brac.

The charity’s new shop in Felixstowe is the first to sell only furniture.
