Hospice launches its award winning Midnight Walk for 2019
Charity’s award winning event will return in 2019 with a twist on its previous neon and sparkle theme
Today St Elizabeth Hospice launches its Midnight Walk for 2019, following the immensely successful event of 2018, this time the walk will have the theme of the 1980s which links in with the charity’s 30th birthday celebrations. The charity will be encouraging walkers to dress up in the vibrant style of the decade for the six or ten mile routes.
The Midnight Walk, which will take place on 11 May 2019, is renowned for its community feel and always invokes a special atmosphere, full of glitz and fun, punctuated with an opportunity to reflect and remember loved ones.
The event will start from the same venue as last year, Trinity Park, which enabled even more people to join in the fun and support the hospice. The walk provides local people with the opportunity to undertake a personal challenge in memory of family or friends while demonstrating their support for the hospice which cares for people with progressive or terminal illnesses.
Rebecca Jedrzejewski, events and challenges fundraiser at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “Last year’s Midnight Walk the most successful of all the hospices in terms of money raised, according to Hospice UK, and we were also delighted to win the best campaign award for 2018 from The Institute of Fundraising East Anglia. Last year 2,500 people took part and over £230,000 was raised for the hospice; enough to cover the cost of one weeks’ care across the hospice and in the local community.
“We always like to offer our supporters variety and this year we’ve updated the theme to appeal to the imaginations of walkers. The event will begin and end at Trinity Park, a well-known and popular venue in the town but, crucially, around three miles from the hospice, allowing us to include the charity as a stop off along the walk, giving supporters the opportunity to remember loved ones we’ve helped to care for.”
Further details about plans for the night, including entertainment, will be revealed over the coming months.
Registration for the Midnight Walk 2019 is now open and tickets are priced at £10 for those who sign up before 31 January 2019. Tickets will then be priced at £15 each. To purchase your ticket, visit stelizabethhospice.org.uk/midnight-walk-2019/
