Help make a difference this New Year by volunteering at your local hospice

12 January 2016

Do something amazing this year by giving your time to volunteer for St Elizabeth Hospice.

The local charity has over 1,100 volunteers who provide vital support so the hospice can continue to provide care and support to its patients and their families and carers – and more volunteers are needed.

There are many volunteer roles available within the hospice and out in the community from working in the inpatient unit at the hospice in Foxhall Road, Ipswich; helping in day care as a host or preparing activities; driving patients to and from the hospice; hairdressing or beauty; gardening; working in one of the 26 St Elizabeth Hospice shops; or pot collecting, to name just a few.

A lot of people make New Year resolutions to stop smoking, get fit, exercise more – most of which fall to the wayside after just a few weeks, but why not do something that will make a real difference and help improve the quality of life for people living with a progressive illness.

Whether you volunteer in a shop, at an event, or on the ward, the support and helping hands volunteers provide is invaluable and really does help to make a difference to patients and their families.

Sue Joy, St Elizabeth Hospice’s volunteer services business partner, said: “We have over 1,100 amazing volunteers at St Elizabeth Hospice who save us an incredible £1.1million a year – money which we can use to continue to provide local hospice care for local people.

“We are always on the lookout for more volunteers to join our team, build new skills, meet new people and make new friends, boost your CV, and contribute towards the quality of a patients’ care, why not get in touch or take a look at our volunteer vacancies online.”
